    About Lumecca

A Lumecca photofacial can treat a wide variety of skin concerns. Intense pulsed light, or IPL, uses light energy with a wide range of wavelengths that treat many signs of aging, leaving patients with improved tone and texture. This non-invasive treatment can diminish the appearance of unwanted pigmentation and other skin conditions by a process known as selective thermolysis.

Lumecca is the most efficient IPL system available today, delivering more powerful bursts of light energy in less time than previous photorejuvenation systems.

As Lumecca delivers light energy deep into the skin, it creates a thermal effect that specifically targets chromophores, leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. Chromophores include the melanin that contributes to discoloration and the hemoglobin in blood. When treated with intense pulsed light, these components are destroyed. Dark spots diminish over time, and the blood vessels that contribute to unwanted redness and telangiestica are shut down and absorbed by the body for a smooth, even skin tone. (1)

Intense pulsed light also has the ability to create a thermal effect in the water molecules present in our skin. As the water is heated and vaporized, the body responds by producing new stores of collagen eventually resulting in firmer, stronger, more youthful skin.

Because it’s so powerful, Lumecca has the ability to achieve results that were previously only possible with lasers but is gentle enough so that patients can avoid the recovery process and unpleasant side effects that can accompany laser treatments.

    Get Ready to Glow

Before your Lumecca session, it’s important to baby your skin, make sure to be properly hydrated, and avoid sun exposure or tanning. You will also need to avoid using retinols and postpone other skin treatments until your skin has fully healed post-procedure. You’ll be given personalized instructions on how to prepare for your treatment and what to expect afterward during your personal consultation at Self Care LA.
