Morpheus8 by InMode® is a microneedling skin rejuvenation treatment. It works by inducing the growth of collagen, a type of protein in your skin that keeps it youthful, firm, and wrinkle-free. Your skin doesn’t produce as much collagen as you age, which leads to skin laxity, drooping, and wrinkles.
Morpheus8 stimulates collagen growth by creating tiny injuries in the skin. The growth, thickening, and contraction of collagen are all part of the healing process stimulated by Morpheus8 microneedling. In addition to the tiny injuries, Morpheus8 enhances healing by delivering gentle radiofrequency deep into the skin and tissues.
With its combination of microneedling and radiofrequency, Morpheus8 heals damages to the skin at the surface level and below.
Morpheus8 offers plenty of benefits for your skin’s health and firmness and is safe for all skin types. During your consultation at Self Care LA, Dr. Kothakota recommends Morpheus8 if it will get you closer to reaching your treatment goals. The procedure can minimize features of the skin such as:
While you might experience slight irritation after the treatment, Morpheus8 ultimately offers brighter and more even skin. You can sustain those results by using professional skin care products, avoiding sun exposure, and staying hydrated.
Regular microneedling (aka collagen induction therapy) causes just enough ‘damage’ to stimulate collagen production. Morpheus8 utilizes microneedling to deliver radiofrequency (RF) to the skin at varying depths. The puncturing component prompts the healing response by stimulating collagen and elastin growth while RF will tighten the treated skin. This results in collagen remodeling and exfoliation.
The goal of Morpheus8 treatment is to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, reduce pore size, correct hyperpigmentation, treat stretch marks, reduction of scars and acne scarring, and skin tightening.
While a single session of Morpheus8 will deliver results, at Self Care LA we recommend undergoing a series of 3-4 treatments, spaced a month apart. Once the series is completed, we recommend a single maintenance session every year. Just like any other skin treatment plan, Morpheus8 shouldn’t be treated as a one-and-done treatment.
However, nothing lasts forever! Age and other factors including genetics and exposure to the sun can contribute to skin laxity.
Yes! Beyond the face and neck, some of most popular areas to treat include: thighs, knees, back, stomach, arms, etc. nearly every part of the body where fat reduction and skin tightening is desired. Morpheus8 can also be used for vaginal rejuvenation.
At Self Care LA we love using Morpheus 8 on the face and neck, leading to lifting/tightening around the eyes, around the mouth, jowls and submental/chin area.
It sure does! The combination of microneedling and radiofrequency at certain needle depths can target the fat as well as tighten the skin. This makes Morpheus8 ideal for treating fat in difficult to treat areas, like under the chin, easier to treat. In fact, Morpheus8 is one of the most popular treatments on the market right now because of its wide application in uses. Personally, I find this procedure is more effective than Coolsculpting or Kybella for treating certain stubborn areas.
While Morpheus 8 can be used on nearly every body part, we offer other non-invasive methods to treat the body at Self Care LA.
Morpheus 8 is always performed in conjunction with topical anesthetics. At Self Care LA, we use a very specific formulation of lidocaine and tetracaine that is applied to the treated areas and left on for 1 hour. After appropriate numbing, you may feel dull pressure, but it should be very tolerable.
In addition to topical anesthetics, we can provide Tylenol, CBD or lozenges that include ketamine, zofran and midazolam to help you remain awake and conscious but remain comfortable during the procedure.
We want to make sure you are very comfortable and at ease during the procedure.
Yes, Morpheus8 really does work. Microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) technologies have been out for several years and are well-studied and proven. The combination of these two modalities in a single device is what makes Morpheus8 stand out against its competitors.
Additionally, Morpheus8 can treat deeper (up to 8mm) than any other device on the market, and it also works on every skin type, Fitzpatrick 1-6. However, you will need a trained, experienced provider to ensure the proper settings for depth and your skin type.
Yes! The beauty of Morpheus8 is that it has great synergy with other modalities.
For example, we can combine Morpheus8 with our Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulse Light) Therapy to further amplify the collagen rebuilding and skin remodeling. The best part? These treatments can be done together in a single session!
We are always trying new things here at Self Care LA. Currently we are combining Morpheus8 with other InMode technologies like Evolve X and creating treatments such as an incision-less Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) or a ‘Mommy Tummy’ Makeover. One of the key benefits of Morpheus8 is that there is very minimal downtime post-procedure.
You can expect a few days of redness, itchiness and swelling. Reactions can range depending on your skin, but most people can resume makeup after 1-2 days and exercise within 2-4 days. Your skin will feel sensitive for a few weeks, and so we recommend you avoid direct sun exposure and use a zinc-based sunscreen. We have proudly partnered with SkinCeuticals to bundle their incredible products into our procedures to aid in recovery and improve the results of your Morpheus 8 treatment.
The microneedling process results in thousands of microchannels in the skin which can leave you feeling incredibly dry. The goal is to use skin products that keep the skin moisturized but also aid in recovery. We recommend a medical grade skincare regimen following your Morpheus8 treatment, one that is designed to penetrate the skin and promote recovery. However, I recommend that you keep your skin protected from the sun and treated with SkinCeuticals products to further promote your results.
Fortunately, every skin type (Fitzpatrick 1-6) is a candidate for Morpheus8. That means olive and Brown skin types who could easily hyper or hypo-pigment with other facial treatments will be safe with Morpheus8. The needle depth and energy settings will be customized to your skin type and aesthetic goals.
Morpheus8 is also good for those looking for tightening and skin rejuvenation without the cost or downtime of plastic surgery for the face (like a face lift) or for the body (like liposuction).
It's also a great treatment for someone with acne scarring, sun damage and dark spots – Morpheus8 resurfaces the top layer of skin
The cost of Morpheus 8 can vary, depending on the size of the area treated. For example the cost to treat around the mouth will be much less than treating the entire face and neck. At Self Care LA, we can create a package of three or more treatments along with a post-treatment serum from SkinCeuticals.
