A patient interested in a body-contouring treatment may think that CoolSculpting vs Zerona are practically the same procedure. While it is true that they both produce similar body-defining results, the method by which they reach those results are almost strikingly opposite in nature. Zerona uses laser technology to liquefy the fat tissue found within the fat cells in stubborn fat deposits. The melted fat leaves the cells causing them to shrink allowing the patient to lose inches of fat in the targeted area. Conversely, CoolScrupting uses Cryolipolysis to freeze the patient’s fat cells so that they disintegrate and are eliminated from the body by natural means. One uses heat while the other uses cold.
Both procedures are ideal for patients who are already relatively fit but have stubborn fat bulges in a particular area that never seem to go away with diet and exercise. Some common areas that both Zerona and CoolSculpting are used on include muffin tops, double chins, abdomens, thighs, and upper arms. Millions of American search for ways to contour and sculpt these problem areas every year and many of them choose either Zerona or Coolsculpting.
This is what you could expect depending on which procedure you pick:
Zerona is a laser fat shrinking system which was originally created to assist in a typical liposuction procedure but now stands alone as its own body contouring procedure which has been growing in popularity over the past year. This particular treatment utilizes low level laser technology which is designed to shrink and liquefy fat cells in the chosen targeted area. The laser enables the emulsification of fat tissue so that it leaks out of the cells, thereby shrinking them, without having any effect on the epidermis. Zerona usually requires six sessions over a period of 15 days. The patient is required to come to the treatment center every other day for another 40-minute to hour long treatment session. At the end of the 15-day period, the patient can expect inches to be lost from the area targeted in the treatment.
It is unadvisable for pregnant women to undergo the procedure or individuals with pacemakers as there could be serious complications. The fat tissue, once liquefied, could possibly increase toxin levels in the liver. Additionally, there is potential for the fat to return since the fat cells have not actually been removed, just shrunk.
Many patients have reported losing inches through Zerona and have reported being very happy with their results after their six one-hour sessions. However, there is not enough data yet to get a clear picture on what the results are like past six months’ post-treatment. It is unknown how many patients have experienced continued build-up in those stubborn fat deposits.
CoolSculpting is a revolutionary fat elimination technique which uses a method called Cryolipolysis, or cold therapy, to freeze targeted deposits of fat cells. It works tremendously well on patients who are already in decent shape but have stubborn bulges or rolls of fat that will not disappear no matter what they do. Some of the areas that CoolSculpting works best on are the abdomen, uppers arms, back fat, saddlebags, and love handles. The method, which was invented by Harvard scientists, causes the fat cells to die soon after being frozen leading them to disintegrate over time and be slowly eliminated from the body in a natural way. CoolSculpting has, also, been proven to effectively tighten the skin as it freezes the fat resulting in a smooth and even contour. Its effectiveness and natural look has caused it to quickly become the first choice for many patients looking for non-invasive body contouring treatments.
CoolSculpting has no long-lasting harmful side effects and no down time. Since it is a non-invasive procedure there are no scars or discoloration on the skin’s surface. Some patients have reported some slight bruising, swelling, and occasional tenderness after treatment. However, all of these side effects will dissipate in around a week and are temporary.
CoolSculpting is extremely effective and has been proven to work. Since the fat cells need to disintegrate and be eliminated from your body after being frozen, you will likely start seeing serious results between three weeks and two months from the time of the procedure. After that period of time, you can expect to see a 20-25% reduction in fat from the targeted area with skin tightening. The fat cells are officially gone for good and cannot come back. Some patients choose to return for a few treatments to attain their desired results while many patients find they only need one session.
Zerona does not fully remove the fat cells from the targeted fat deposit so that it is not only possible, but likely, that those stubborn fat deposits will return over time. Whereas CoolSculpting fully eliminates the fat cells so that they cannot ever return. Because of the natural removal of fat cells, CoolSculpting has less possible negative side effects than Zerona. Furthermore, CoolSculpting does not require as many sessions as Zerona does, making it far more cost-effective, especially if your body only requires one session. Zerona could give you the inches lost that you want; however, that could leave you with loose skin where that extra fat used to be. On the other hand, CoolSculpting tightens your skin while removing those fat cells giving your skin a smooth and sculpted shape.
